Jos\u00e9 Manuel Dur\u00e3o Barroso is former President of the European Commission where he completed two mandates between 2004 and 2014.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\u2019s a former Prime Minister of Portugal where he served and served for twelve years including in the positions of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and Secretary of State for Home Affairs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
His academic appointments include Visiting Professor at Georgetown University, Princeton University and the Graduate\u00a0lnstitute\u00a0for International Studies in Geneva. He is currently a visiting professor at the Catholic University of Portugal (Director of its Centre of European Studies) and at the European University Institute, School of Transnational Governance, Florence. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\u2019s also nonresident scholar at Princeton University, where is a member of the Advisory Council of the Liechtenstein Institute. Jos\u00e9 Manuel Dur\u00e3o Barroso graduated in Law from the University of Lisbon and completed a\u00a0Master\u2019s degree in Political Science\u00a0at the University of Geneva and other postgraduate degrees in European Studies.
