António Nogueira Leite

António joined Hipoges in 2013, where he is currently Senior Board Advisor (Portugal). He has over 35 years of experience in academia, business, and government. Before joining Hipoges, António was Chairman of the Lisbon Stock Exchange (1998/9) and later Secretary of State for the Treasury and Finance of the Portuguese Government (1999/2000).

In 2002, António joined the José de Mello Group, one of Portugal’s largest conglomerates, where he was head of strategic planning and control and a member of the board of directors of all the group’s subsidiaries.

In 2011, António was appointed executive vice president of Caixa Geral de Depósitos and president of Caixa Banco de Investimentos, the group’s investment banking subsidiary. He holds a degree in Economics from the Portuguese Catholic University and a master’s and doctorate in Economics from the Gies School of Business at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA).

He is a professor of business strategy at Universidade Nova SBE and Chairman of the Boards of Directors of Sociedade Ponto Verde and Mapfre Portugal.
