European Commissioner for Defence and Space
Andrius Kubilius is a Member of the European Commission responsible for Defence and Space (since December 2024). From 1990 to 1992, he served as a Secretary-in-Charge of Lithuania’s pro-independence Sąjūdis movement and was the Chairman of the Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats from 2003 to 2015. A. Kubilius was a member of the Lithuanian Parliament from 1992 to 2019 and served twice as Prime Minister, from 1999 to 2000 and from 2008 to 2012. Andrius Kubilius was a Member of the European Parliament from 2019 until December 2024, during this period he chaired the Delegation to the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly (until July 2024).
