Mónica Dias

Mónica Dias is Associate Professor and Director of the Institute of Political Studies (IEP) at the Portuguese Catholic University.
She teaches and conducts research in the areas of Conflict and Peace Studies, Democracy, Contemporary International Politics, International Organisations and Human Rights. She directs the Research Line on Peace Studies and Civil Society at the Institute’s Study Centre and is responsible for the Summit of Democracies, which is supported by the European Parliament.
She has taught at the University of Cologne and was a scholarship holder of the DAAD, the United States Information Agency (now Fulbright), the FCT and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. She was an advisor to the Committee on Education, Science and Culture in the Portuguese Parliament and a trainer in international seminars organised by the European Commission and the European Parliament in the areas of Multicultural Education, Leadership and Conflict Management.
She is a member of the Board of the Portuguese Political Science Association and a commentator on international political affairs in the media, with extensive publications in this field.
